Overview of Pöyry Energy Consulting

Pöyry Energy Consulting was founded in 1990 as ILEX Energy Consulting with the aim of meeting the challenges of the opening of the electricity market in England and Wales. ILEX rapidly expanded to advise on electricity and gas markets in the UK, Ireland, Italy and Spain.
Following the purchase of the company in 2003 by the Jaakko Pöyry Group, ILEX worked with our sister companies Electrowatt-Ekono and Verbundplan to offer pan-European energy consulting services.
A natural progression for the companies was to unite under one Pöyry brand, and so from 19 June 2006, ILEX along with Electrowatt-Ekono and Verbundplan, became Pöyry Energy Consulting. In 2006 Convergence Utility Consultants also joined Pöyry Energy Consulting. Pöyry was further strengthened in 2007 with the arrival of Econ Analysis AS.
ILEX Energy Consulting Ltd has now become Pöyry Energy (Oxford) Ltd, trading as Pöyry Energy Consulting. Our people, our services and our commitment to our clients remain the same.
Pöyry Energy advises governments, regulators, banks and the full range of market participants, from niche players to the largest energy companies in the world. We provide strategic, economic, commercial, regulatory and policy advice throughout the energy value chain.
The company comprehensively covers electricity, gas, renewables and emissions markets across Europe. Our detailed understanding of energy markets allows us to advise clients on how best to succeed and help policy makers and regulators design markets that work.
